My scale always reads 'Lo-b' and the batteries don't seem to be recharging when plugged in.
Some of the colored wires have broken from the 5-pin connector that plugs into the
readout console.
How do I attach a new 5-pin connector to the gray cable?
How do I attach a new 3-pin connector to the black power cord?
My scale always reads 'Lo-b' and the batteries don't seem to be recharging when  plugged in.

There are 3 possible scenarios that will cause this problem with Befour scales that use a rechargeable battery: (1) the battery pack is damaged or in deep discharge, (2) the AC adapter has failed and is not charging the battery pack, or (3) the charging circuit is defective.

Follow the instructions below to determine which part is not functioning correctly:
1. Unplug scale from wall and unplug both gray & black cable connectors from readout console.
2. Remove battery pack from scale readout console as described below.
3. Re-attach gray 5-pin connector & black 3-pin connector to the readout console.
4. Plug scale into a working wall outlet.
5. If the console powers on and the scale works properly with the battery pack removed, then     the battery is defective. There is still a remote chance that the charging circuit is damaged.     If this is the case then the readout console, including battery pack, should be sent in for     repair.
6. If the readout console does not properly power on, then the AC adapter is bad and should be     replaced. If the problem is diagnosed as being a bad adapter, there is still a remote     possibility that your battery pack has gone bad as well. This is sometimes the case when a     battery has been left uncharged over an extended period of time. If the battery does not     charge with a new AC adapter, the battery pack may also need to be replaced.

1. Use a Philips screwdriver to remove the single screw     from the bottom of the readout console.
1. Carefully remove back cover exposing battery pack and     internal parts.
  2. Slide out battery pack. Be careful not to damage wires     or internal circuit board.
1. To unplug the battery connector, follow the red and black     wires to the connector in the back of the readout     console.
  2. Firmly grasp the wires at the base of the plastic     connector and gently unplug the connector by sliding it     to the left.

Some of the colored wires have broken off from the 5-pin connector that plugs into  the console.
If you are not experienced in soldering small wires, we highly recommend you seek assistance from someone who is experienced.
1. Match wire colors to the numbered holes on the     connector. Make sure notch in the black plastic is at the 6     o'clock position before beginning.
2. Carefully solder the wires to the pins as shown in wiring     diagram. Do not hold iron on pins for an extended period     of time.

How do I attach a new 5-pin connector to the gray cable?
1. Disconnect the two collar screws and the one     connector screw.
2. Pull connector apart, exposing the colored wires. The     black plastic piece will separate from the silver     connector body.
3. Solder wires to the correct pins (see above for     instructions and schematic).
4. Wrap rubber sleeve around the gray cable. Position     it so that half of its length is inside the silver     connector body.
5. Re-assemble the black plastic piece into the     connector body.
6. Tighten the one connector screw.
7. Tighten the two collar screws.

How do I attach a new 3-pin connector to the black power cord?
If you are not experienced in soldering small wires, we highly recommend you seek assistance from someone who is experienced.
1. Remove the old connector. Pay careful attention to how the     wires are attached.
  2. Slide the metal housing onto the black cable with the spring     end towards the transformer.
  3. Solder the wires to the metal tabs on the black housing as     shown to the left. Failure to properly connect the wires will     damage the transformer.
  4. Grab and squeeze the black insulation with your fingers     about 6" below solder joints and stretch the insulation up     towards the black housing. This slides the insulation over     the small wires so they will be inside metal housing when     assembled.
  5. Attach the wire support "switch craft" by sliding it into the     slot on black housing. Bend wire support tabs over the     insulation.
  6. Slide the metal housing onto the black housing. Line up the     prong in the black housing with the slot in the metal housing     so that it snaps into place.
